Carlos Alcaraz revealed he has not been in a relationship for the last 18 months as he focuses on building a top-level tennis career.

Alcaraz enjoyed a sensational breakthrough year in 2022 and rose to the top of the ATP rankings. The Spanish player also became the youngest ever to become number one at the age of just 19.

In September 2022, Alcaraz won the US Open and also notched victories in two Masters events. But the success hasn't come without sacrifice and the 20-year-old recently explained some of the difficulties with maintaining an elite level in professional tennis, especially when it comes to relationships.

"It’s complicated, never staying in one place. It’s hard to find a person who can share things with you if you’re always in different parts of the world,"

Alcaraz said to Vogue

With a promising career ahead, Alcaraz is also trying not to get sidetracked by sponsorship or financial income either. The 20-year-old explained that he is trying to keep grounded and push on with his tennis.

"Well, my father takes care of it. I’m quite young and I’ve got my whims, but I’m very natural, normal, and humble. I don’t really pay much attention to brands and cars. If I like something, I try to buy it, but in the end, my father takes care of everything,"

Alcaraz has recently returned to action after he missed out on the 2023 Australian Open in January due to a leg injury.

The 20-year-old beat Cameron Norrie in straight sets in the final of the Argentina Open last week. Alcaraz is now in action at the Rio Open and progressed to the round of 16 after beating Mateus Alves in the first round.
