'I'm Not New Anymore': Alcaraz Sends Warning To Djokovic Ahead Of Wimbledon Final

by Zachary Wimer

Carlos Alcaraz will face Novak Djokovic in the 2024 Wimbledon Championships final, and he will approach it very confidently.

Beating Djokovic at Wimbledon was one of the toughest challenges in tennis. It couldn't be compared to beating Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros, but it was still one of the biggest accomplishments, for those few that managed to do it, especially in a big match.

After all, before his loss to Alcaraz last year, the Serbian wasn't beaten on the Centre Court in London for ten years. Yet, he lost last year as the Spaniard stepped up, beating him in five sets to win his maiden Wimbledon trophy.

Fast-forward to now, and Alcaraz has a chance to make Wimbledon the first Grand Slam he's won twice, which is certainly something neither he nor many expected.

He bested Daniil Medvedev to make the final this year, and after that match, the Spaniard fired a warning to Djokovic, admitting that this year, he will be heading into the final in a much different position, as someone who knows what to expect.

"I feel like I’m not new anymore. I know how I’m going to feel before the final... I’ve been in this position before and I will try to do the things that I did well last year. I will try to be better and try to do the things that went well."

Being confident is certainly a must for Alcaraz if he wants to beat Djokovic, but there are some things that are on his side. Unlike last year when the Spanish youngster was the underdog, he will be the favorite this time around.

The 21-year-old hasn't been as sharp as last year, but discounting him is certainly not an option, as he's confident and believes in himself, probably much more than last year.
