Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are very good friends, and they will meet once again on the tennis court at the 2022 Laver Cup.
The Swiss Maestro hasn't played a tennis match since last year's Wimbledon. So, not just fans but also his fellow competitors are really excited to see Federer compete at the 2022 Laver Cup.
The three other members of the Big Four will join him in London, as Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray will all compete at the Laver Cup as well.
Ahead of the 2022 US Open, Nadal was asked about his rival, and he admitted that he's excited to see Federer back on the court and hopes that the Swiss player will be able to continue competing.
"Well, excited to play Laver Cup. Of course, super excited to see Roger again on court. I hope he's healthy enough to make that happen. Yeah, let's see. Have been a long period of time without Roger on court, so I really hope that he can manage to be back, no?"
"The most important thing at this stage of his career is the health and the happiness, no? If he's healthy enough and happy enough to be back on the tennis tour, it will be amazing. If not, we can just say thanks to him for everything that he has achieved. I am confident that we will keep having Roger for a while."
The Spaniard also spoke about his practice and preparation ahead of the 2022 US Open. Nadal is coming back from an injury that forced him to withdraw from the Wimbledon semi-final.
"[I'm] taking care with the serve, being honest. But in general terms, I am practicing at a high level of intensity. I'm quite happy with the way that I am playing. Of course, we need to compete later."
"But it's already two weeks on the Tour, even if only one match professional, official. But practicing every day with the guys helps me, without a doubt. I played sets every day for the last five days. That helps, of course."
