Nick Kyrgios played his first Grand Slam final at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, but it didn't help his rankings since no points were awarded at the event.
The 27-year-old Australian reached his career-high in 2016 when he was ranked 13th on the ATP Tour. This year, he had a chance to get close to his highest ranking, but as he stated many times, he isn't interested in collecting ranking points.
Kyrgios is a player that any tournament organizer would like to see on the tennis courts, and therefore, he doesn't need to rely on rankings when entering tournaments.
After withdrawing from the 2022 Atlanta Open, it seems that the 2022 Wimbledon finalist lost his chance of being seeded at this year's US Open, but that doesn't seem to be something that would bother him.
"I've been that floater my whole career. Players know that whether I'm seeded or not the ball's kind of out of their court. If I'm confident and playing well they can't really do much. I'm 60 in the world but I feel like I'm top 10 always."
Recently, Kyrgios also shared how he felt about his first Grand Slam final. He admitted that if he got a chance to play in another major final, he would try to handle it better when it comes to emotions.
"Honestly, I feel as if my first slam final was impressive. Next time, I would try to ride the emotional wave a little smoother, but I realize how much was on the line."
"I feel if I was up against anyone else but Djokovic in the final with they way I served that day, I would of won."
The Australian player also had a message for those who thought he was arrogant. He sees it as confidence because of what he's been through in his life and career.
"People tend to confuse my confidence for arrogance because they have no idea what I've been through."
