Dominic Thiem shared an upbeat message about his current struggles after losing his sixth match in a row since he rejoined the Tour at the end of March.

Thiem produced two sumptuous tweeners in back-to-back points to delight the crowd in Geneva, but he did not get the result he wanted at the end of the match, losing to Italy's Marco Cecchinato in straight sets.

The ATP 250 tournament in Switzerland is the last warm-up event before the French Open begins, and Thiem will now head to Paris without a single win under his belt

The last time he won a match on the ATP Tour was in May 2021, when he defeated Marton Fucsovics in the second round of the Italian Open. He wouldn't win another match in his next four outings until he was forced to retire on the grass courts of the Mallorca Open last June because of a wrist injury and never to appear again for the remainder of last year.

That injury has robbed him of all the unrelenting power and confidence that made him one of the best clay-court players in the world. But recent losses to the likes of John Millman, Benjamin Bonzi, and even a subpar Andy Murray reek of underperformance.

But Thiem assured his fans that his season is a "work in progress" and that he is determined to rediscover his previous form. The disappointment is visible in Thiem's tone in the tweet he shared, but he promised to work harder to get back to where he was, and that's the only way to do it.

"It’s a work in the process. Of course, yesterday's defeat hurt. But I won’t let that stop me. I will keep working on myself and work towards my goals. What I can pass on to everyone. The process is not easy, but it will be worth taking the time to do so!"
