'I Just Need More Time': Draper Reflects On Queen's Club Disappointment After Stunning Alcaraz

Jack Draper is eyeing an even higher level of tennis after stabilizing himself in the Top 30 on the ATP Tour.

Draper recently won his maiden ATP trophy in Stuttgart, completing an amazing week for the Brit. He then backed it up at the Cinch Championships, beating defending champion Carlos Alcaraz before losing to eventual champion Tommy Paul.

It was a much-needed breakout for the Brit, who had some amazing performances in the past but never broke out in a significant way. He hopes this year's grass season will provide that launching pad for him to take the next step, but he's not in the rush.

"I think if you want to be a top, top player in the world, you have to back up results week by week, day by day. I think if you want to be a top, top player in the world, you have to back up results week by week, day by day."

"So if you’re not quite on your game you lose the match because the other guy plays well and he beats you. That’s kind of the next stage for me now. I want to try and go deep in tournaments and back it up every week. These are just things I have to probably get used to at the highest level and learn."

There is plenty of time for Draper to figure things out because most of what has gone wrong for him so far has been related to injuries. If he remains as healthy as he's been recently, then he'll surely have no problems carving out a space for himself on the ATP Tour.

"I’m still young. I’m trying to piece a lot of things together. Obviously that was my first title – I’ve done it at challenger level and futures, but it’s very different on the main tour. I just need probably a bit more time."
