Taylor Fritz made a lot of Americans happy by lifting the 2023 Delray Beach Open trophy, and he thanked the crowd for their support after the final match.

Fritz played in Delray Beach several times in his career and it's an event he always enjoys attending. This year's edition left a particular mark on him because the stands were packed, and the crowd heavily supported him.

He won the trophy after beating Miomir Kecmanovic in the final, 6-0, 5-7, 6-2. He returned to the tournament after three years, and he was extremely delighted about his triumph in Delray Beach, especially the support that he received from the fans.

"My first time back here in quite a while and the event was amazing. The fans especially, the turnout was incredible and it makes me really proud to be an American playing at a home event, with how many people were in the stands."

Fritz nearly stumbled in the final against Kecmanovic, as he lost the second set 5-7 despite being only one point away from winning the match. During his speech, he mentioned how unlucky he was in the previous years, something that he managed to turn around in this final.

He first played in Delray Beach in 2016, but lost already in the first round. He lost in the second round in 2017, and made the quarter-final in 2018.

After that, Fritz lost two more times in the first round (2019 and 2020). That means he entered this year's tournament with a 4-5 record, which he was able to turn around by winning four matches to lift the ATP 250 trophy in Delray Beach.

"This year was incredible after losing in the first and second round [almost] every single year I'd been here. I couldn't be happier with coming back and having this result."
