Holger Rune Spotted Practicing With New Racket Design Ahead Of 2024 Season

Holger Rune's preseason training camp was situated in Monte Carlo, where he currently resides, and he was pictured holding a new racket.

Rune is sponsored by the famed racket sports equipment company Babolat. Established in the late 1800s, Babolat is one of the oldest racket companies in the world and has risen in prominence by investing heavily in grassroots marketing.

This has been a sound business decision for Babolat, and they have reaped huge dividends, making it easier to acquire the top players in subsequent years. Their portfolio includes the likes of Rafael Nadal (who had been playing with a Babolat racket before he even turned pro) and Carlos Alcaraz.

Rather than endorsing established players on tour, the French company has placed its wands into the hands of the world's top young players. Unlike other sports equipment, in tennis, players feel they are not at liberty to change their rackets at will. To them, a racket is a lifetime companion.

Holger Rune is also within the Babolat database. The Dane uses a customized Babolat Pure Aero 98 racket with a 16x20 string pattern weighing roughly 332g. Initially, Rune used the Babolat Pure Aero VS from 2020 but switched things up following technical modifications.

But recent pictures from his training camp alerted watchful tennis fans who noticed a new racket design with a 16x19 string pattern. According to unverified reports from X (formerly Twitter), Rune is testing the latest model from Babolat, which will be released next year, before the new season begins.

The World No. 8 has been doing heavy lifting at the gym and on the court in the past couple of weeks as he prepares to travel to London to play in the UTS Tour Grand Final. Rune was handed a wild card into the tournament, giving him some solid groundwork in the offseason.
