German tennis journalist Jannik Schneider was reportedly threatened at the 2023 Roland Garros after asking Thiago Seyboth Wild about his abuse case.

Thiago Seyboth Wild experienced the best moment of his career when he defeated Daniil Medvedev in the first round of Roland Garros. It was a spectacular match and a great performance by the Brazilian to earn the biggest win of his career.

He was very upbeat in his press conference but his mood quickly shifted when he was confronted about his abuse case back home in Brazil. Back in 2021, reports from Brazil reported that the player was accused of physical and emotional abuse. Seyboth Wild was receptive to the question back then refusing to talk about it.

I don't think it's a subject we should talk about it right here. I don't think it's a question you should be making to anybody. I don't think it comes to you to decide whether it's a place to be spoken of or not.

The reporter didn't get what he was looking for but he certainly didn't expect to be threatened. After the conclusion of the press conference, Schneider told another reporter that someone posing as an Octagon agent tried to take a picture of his accreditation as reported by Renan Nabeshima. After the journalist refused, the man in question apologised.

Sad to report that @schnejan told me he was threatened after asking Thiago Wild a question about the denounce for domestic violence against his ex. A man who is an allegedly Octagon agent tried to take a picture of his accreditation. After Jannik refused, the man apologized.

Soon after the incident, Schneider thanked his colleague on Twitter for backing him up and bringing the issue up.

A Journalist should never be part of a story. Sad that this happened when we left the room. I dont want to say more but add that I asked a valid question based on public info from the court in Rio 2022. Thanks @djub22 for having my back and many colleagues for their support after.

The situation was a very strange one but also an alarming one as the reporter asked a valid question.
