Emma Raducanu was forced to retire from her first semi-final match since her US Open win last year.

Raducanu played her first semi-final match of the season when she took on the first-seeded Jelena Ostapenko at the 2022 Korea Open in Seoul. It was the best tournament of the season for the 2021 US Open champion, who defeated Moyuka Uchijima, Yanina Wickmayer, and Magda Linette without losing a set before taking on Ostapenko.

She was the better player in all of her matches, and it seemed that the Brit finally found her top level. She beat Uchijima 6-2, 6-4, Wickmayer 6-3, 7-5, and the third-seeded Linette 6-2, 6-2, which only proved how dominant she was at the event.

However, Raducanu struggled with an injury once again in her semi-final match and couldn't complete the match that was looking so well for her.

Despite being broken first in the opening set, the young Brit showed plenty of fighting spirit. She broke the top seed to erase the one-break deficit, and made it to 2-2 after losing 0-2 early on.

After that, Raducanu added one more break of serve, and from 3-4 down, the British player went on to win three consecutive games to win the first set of the match 6-4.

In the second set, it was Raducanu who got the first break, and with a set and a break up, it seemed that she would make it happen in Seoul.

However, an injury started bothering the former WTA World No. 10 player. She was also forced to ask for a medical timeout in the second set.

Eventually, she got broken twice and lost the second set 3-6, and after she lost ten points in a row in the third set, Raducanu decided to retire from the match.
