'Dreams Of His Bank Account': Kyrgios Refutes Claim Of Djokovic Seeing Sinner In Nightmares

Nick Kyrgios shared his reaction in the aftermath of Novak Djokovic's successive defeats at the Davis Cup, which cost Serbia a place in Sunday's final.

Having scored the first point in the semifinal tie against Italy thanks to Miomir Kecmanovic's heroics against Lorenzo Musetti, Djokovic had the chance to seal Serbia's spot in the final for the first time since winning their solitary title in 2010.

Djokovic competed courageously, coming from a set down to level the match. He held three match points on the Sinner serve late in the third set but failed to convert any of them. Sinner eventually prevailed. The 36-year-old's evening went from bad to worse.

Djokovic was picked to play the decisive doubles match together with Kecmanovic, facing the Italian duo of Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego. The Serbians were beaten in straight sets having squandered plenty of chances to even the score in the second set.

For the second time in the day, Sinner had consigned Djokovic to another gut-wrenching defeat, prompting one social media account on X to claim the 24-time Grand Slam champion would have "nightmares" thinking about Sinner while sleeping.

However, Kyrgios rubbished that suggestion, arguing that it is debatable and pointed to Djokovic's lavish lifestyle and his tennis accomplishments as sufficient evidence he is not going to struggle with this sleep during the night.

"Debatable hahaha Novak I think has dreams of his bank account and his achievements and sleeps like a puppy."

Kyrgios tweeted in the aftermath of the Davis Cup semifinal

This was the fourth time Djokovic and Sinner shared the stage in as many days. They played twice at the ATP Finals in Turin this past week. Sinner earned a shock win over the World No. 1 in the round-robin stage but lost the final match to Djokovic.

The injury-stricken Kyrgios will certainly have his way on the final on Sunday here an Alex de Minaur-led Australian team will look to prevent Sinner from ending Italy's barren spell in the Davis Cup.
