Draper Reaches Back-To-Back Finals After Beating Bublik In Adelaide

Jack Draper is through to his second consecutive ATP Tour-level final after beating Alexander Bublik at the 2024 Adelaide International.

The Brit has been playing incredible tennis lately, and technically, it's a third consecutive final for him, as he previously won an ATP Challenger tournament in Bergamo in his last preparations before switching back to Tour-level matches.

After that, he reached his maiden ATP final in Sofia, which he lost, and after winning the Ultimate Tennis Showdown Grand Final in London, which isn't an official ATP event, Draper got back to winning ways at the start of the new season.

He entered the Adelaide International draw only thanks to a late withdrawal, which pushed him from the qualifying, where he was supposed to be the top seed, to the main draw.

In his first match, he overcame the fifth-seeded Sebastian Baez, before handling a very difficult match against Miomir Kecmanovic. Then, the 22-year-old outplayed also the top seed Tommy Paul before taking on the eighth-seeded, Alexander Bublik.

The Kazakhstani player has been in a very good mood in Adelaide this week, and he showcased some of his magic also in the semifinal match, in which both players, untraditionally, showed their returning qualities early on as they both broke each other's serve twice in the opening set.

After that, things followed as expected, with both hitting plenty of aces and taking the first set into the tie-break, which was won by the British player 7-2.

In the second set of the match, Draper was able to break his opponent's serve again, but this time around, Bublik was not able to respond, as he won only 3 out of 11 points after his second serve, and also only five points in total on his opponent's serve in the second set.

Thanks to that, Draper was able to win this match in straight sets, 7-6(2), 6-4 to reach his third consecutive final, and second straight Tour-level final. He will play against the seventh-seeded Jiri Lehecka in an attempt to win his maiden ATP title.
