Draper Eliminates Top Seed Paul To Reach His Fifth Tour-Level Semifinal In Adelaide

Jack Draper is playing some really wonderful tennis to start to year as he's ousted Adelaide International top seed Tommy Paul for a spot in the semi-final.

Jack Draper had a really good offseason as he bested everybody in London at the UTS Shodown there, teasing what might end up being a very good season for him.

So far, it's been going really well as he's through to the Adelaide semi-final with this win over top seed Tommy Paul, alongside earlier wins over Miomir Kecmanovic and 5th seed Sebastian Baez.

It wasn't a particularly close match against Paul because Draper was much better than his opponent in the opening set. It took him only 28 minutes to win the set 6-1 behind just amazing play from the baseline.

The American is known as a very streaky player who can be quiet and up and down, and he was totally down in this set. Draper didn't serve well, but even so, dominated enough from the baseline to win the set.

The second set was a bit more competitive because Paul finally started to hit well from the baseline but was still not good enough. The Brit again struggled with the serve but simply dominated from the baseline with twice as many winners as his opponent

Overall, it was just an amazing display from Draper, who can be even better. Last year's Australian Open saw him take on Rafael Nadal, and he was pretty good at times. Now he's even better, and if he keeps playing like this, he'll have something to say.

This match finished with a 6-1 6-4 score for the Brit, who moves on to the semi-final, which is his fifth Tour-level, where he'll face Alexander Bublik. An impressive 24 winners and only nine unforced errors for him, and plenty to be excited for.
