Jack Draper is one of the most talented British players and he started his journey at the 2023 Indian Wells BNP Paribas Open.
Draper, who is World no. 56, qualified for the main draw directly and didn't have to go through the qualifying. On the other hand, Leandro Riedi, who is 21-year-old Swiss talent, had to battle through Alex Michelsen and Alexandre Muller to set up the first-round clash with month older opponent.
In 2023, Draper reached the semifinals in Adelaide and won four of the seven matches that he played as he looked to get back to winning ways in Indian Wells, after previously losing in the first round of the Australian Open to Rafael Nadal.
And the Brit handled the match perfectly. He started with a break of serve, and despite being immediately broken back, he would go on to break Riedi on each of his service games in the first set, winning it 6-1 in only 29 minutes.
In the second set, Draper continued the dominance as he added two more breaks and after just 57 minutes, he won the match 6-1, 6-1.
Draper hit eight aces and made only one double fault, while hitting a total of 13 winners and making only 4 double faults.
Up next, he will meet fellow compatriot and 24th-seeded Daniel Evans, who had a bye in the first round. If Andy Murray succeeds in his part of the draw, we may see another all-British clash also in the third round.
