Carlos Alcaraz: The Most Confident Player In Tennis, Rightfully

Carlos Alcaraz is probably the most confident player on the ATP Tour right now and his results are backing him up.

Once the young Spaniard arrived on the scene, he quickly proved himself. He kept proving himself until he reached the World No. 1 spot as the youngest man in the history of the sport. Since then, Alcaraz kept his confidence really high.

But that was only until his semifinal match at the 2023 Roland Garros against Novak Djokovic. The 20-year-old experienced massive cramps, and despite feeling like one of the favourites to win the event, he lost just before the final.

When he arrived in London for the 2023 Cinch Championships at the Queen's Club, Alcaraz wasn't really confident, saying that he has fewer chances against the 23-time Grand Slam champion on the grass than on other surfaces.

Even when asked about his chances to win the ATP 500 event in London, the Spaniard didn't see himself as the favourite. It was obvious that losing to Djokovic because of cramps really stunned Alcaraz and his confidence somehow went missing.

But it didn't take too long before the World No. 1 started winning one match after another in a convincing way. Soon, he changed the narrative about his Wimbledon chances, and already in the All England Club, we saw the confident Alcaraz that we all know.

When he was told that Djokovic is unbeaten on the Centre Court for 10 years, he said that he wants to change his dominance, and already after his first win at Wimbledon, the Spaniard said that he wants to win the tournament.

Only a couple of victories later, Alcaraz was asked about his meteoric rise, and in a very confident, but still humble way, the 20-year-old said that he's not surprised by the fact that he's doing so well at all.

"Well, I'm not surprised honestly 'cause I know my skills. I know what I'm capable of. Is something that I work really hard to be in that position, to be what I am right now. Honestly, I'm not surprised at all."

We can often see players being really cautious when making big statements, but Alcaraz isn't afraid to do that. He's probably the most confident player in the game, and he's not afraid to show it at all, and so far, his results back that.
