Carlos Alcaraz overcame an ankle injury in his match against Rafael Nadal by playing superb tennis and winning 6-2 1-6 6-3 to set up a semifinal against Djokovic.

The opening set started with Carlos Alcaraz playing very strong and inspired tennis. The young Spanish superstar looked like a man on a mission and he was ready to take on Nadal in every way possible. Whatever Rafa tried, Alcaraz had a response. We saw forehand winners, we saw backhand winners, we saw return winners, great serves, successful drop shots and more.

Alcaraz was by far the better player in the first set and he won the first set 6-2. Things changed a bit in the 2nd set early when Alcaraz tumbled far behind the baseline. He had a painful expression on his face with a replay showing the ankle bending awkwardly. Alcaraz took an MTO and taped up the ankle with his movement not looking as bouncy as before.

The match was halted midway through the set for a 2nd time due to a medical emergency in the stands which completely threw off the rhythm of Alcaraz. Nadal took advantage of that quickly wrapping up the 2nd set with 6-1. The final set opened with Alcarza looking like the Alcaraz of set number one. He played well, he moved well and he attacked extremely well.

Nadal played one horror game losing his serve and it was all Alcaraz needed. He remained composed and finished it off with 6-3 against his childhood idol. The young Spaniard will also move to the 6th place of the ATP Rankings on Monday what will be his new career high.
