Andy Murray will likely play his final Wimbledon this year, and he'll play doubles with his brother Jaime, a noted doubles player.
Andy Murray and Jaime Murray have played doubles together in the past and have actually won trophies together. It's not very often that we see brothers win trophies in tennis, especially if one of them is predominantly a singles player.
We've had it with the Bryan Brotehrs but also recently with the Tsitispas brothers, who won in Antwerp last year. The Murray brothers won a couple of trophies together and played at the Olympic Games together. They never won a meaningful trophy, such as a Grand Slam, but they will have one more chance.
They will team up at the Wimbledon Championships in about a month, which will be 99 % Andy Murray's final Wimbledon appearance. He announced his retirement a couple of months ago and is set to retire sometime this year. This partnership came out of circumstance, actually, because Jamie Murray was supposed to play with Michael Venus, with whom he plays regularly.
He won't because Venus will team up with another Brit, Neal Skupski, who isn't playing with Koolhoff anymore. Part of why Venus opted for that is that Jamie Murray can't play at the Queen's event as he's the tournament director, so Venus thought it would be better to play the entire grass swing with somebody else.
That opened the chance for Jamie Murray to find another partner, and since it's his brother's final time at Wimbledon, it was a really no-brainer to ask Andy if he wants to play. So we'll get the Murray brothers together at Wimbledon, which will certainly be a spectacle with everything in mind. It's been a while since we saw them compete together.
Mark your calendars, we're only a few weeks away from that.
