Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas will meet in a quarter-final blockbuster at the 2024 Paris Masters.
Entering the last ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the season, Zverev knew what his calendar would look like for the remainder of the year. He will compete at the ATP Finals in Turin, having qualified as the second player this year.
Tsitsipas, on the other hand, has no idea whether he will make it to Turin, but he knows what he needs to do to find himself among the eight best players, and the next step on that journey is beating his old rival.
To make it to the year-end championship, Tsitsipas would need to win the Paris Masters, and right now, he's only three matches away from that. He bested Roberto Carballes Baena in the first round, Alejandro Tabilo in the second, and Francisco Cerundolo in the third round of the tournament.
Zverev's journey was a bit more simple, as he had a first-round BYE. That meant he started in the second round, beating Tallon Griekspoor. However, his third-round match was a proper challenge, as he had to battle past Arthur Fils, but he did and was happy after that.
"I am happy I hung in there today. It was a great match. He is a great player and has improved a lot this year. I am looking forward to the next few battles we are going to have."
Zverev and Tsitsipas might still be relatively young, but they have met on the tennis court an incredible 15 times already. It all started in 2018 when they met twice, with Zverev winning in Washington and Tsitsipas in Canada.
That win at the Canadian Open started the Greek player's dominance, as he won five consecutive matches against Zverev, going 3-0 against him in 2019 and also winning their only match in 2020.
In 2021, the German finally ended his three-year drought against Tsitsipas, beating him in Acapulco, but the Greek won their French Open clash before Zverev won again in Cincinnati.
In 2022, Tsitsipas won the H2H between these two players as well, 2-1, and he also won their only match last year. This year, the H2H is tied at 1-1, and it's that last year's match that is the most interesting one for this meeting.
It took place at the Paris Masters, and Tsitsipas won it in two sets, 7-6(2), 6-4, to reach the quarter-finals of the tournament in the French capital.

Tsitsipas' track record against Zverev and his history in Paris proves that he might be able to win this match. He reached the semi-finals at the Paris Masters in the last two editions, but Zverev's record is also not bad.
He is a former finalist at the event, but that last year's match between the two just can't be overlooked. Tsitsipas might pull off an upset again this yet, but it will be difficult. Still, he can do it and he proved it before. 10 times.
Prediction: Stefanos Tsitsipas to win in three sets.
