Alexander Zverev and Alex de Minaur will battle it out for a semi-final spot at the 2024 Roland Garros.
The German hasn't been playing superbly sharp tennis so far in Paris, but he won all of his matches. He played a really good match against Rafael Nadal in the opening round, but these past few have been very inconsistent.
It's not that he's playing poorly; it's that he's not playing consistently enough to avoid having to play long matches. He wins them, but ideally, he wouldn't want to have a late finish like he had against Holger Rune, especially as it was also a five-set match.
His opponent, de Minaur, had an easier time, as he won in four sets and fairly easily over Daniil Medvedev. The Russian had issues with blisters, which clearly bothered him as the match went on, and his tennis kind of disappeared. It was a good win from de Minaur but he'll need a bit more against Zverev.
Head-to-head:
The two have played a few times so far in the ATP Tour-level matches, and generally, the German has been the better player. He's also made the semi-final in Paris three years in a row, hoping to make it four years in a row, which he would do if he wins this match.
The most recent meeting between them happened in Indian Wells, and Zverev won it in three sets. He leads the overall H2H 7-2. The only clay match between them, which happened last year in Rome, was also won by Zverev.

Prediction:
The obvious problem for de Minaur in this matchup will be how he plans to win points against Zverev. The German is a big wall, and it is hard to hit through him on clay. De Minaur will have to attempt it, but he may not be able to do it.
Prediction: Alexander Zverev to win in four sets.
