This past Sunday was a very eventful day for Carlos Alcaraz, as during the day, he became the Wimbledon champion and then watched his Spain win the UEFA European Championship later at night.
The Spaniard had a very eventful Sunday, and it was a superb day for him and his country. It was the type of day he teased on the semi-final day when the crowd booed him for suggesting that Spain would win the final of the 2024 UEFA European Championship against England.
Not only did he beat Novak Djokovic in the 2024 Wimbledon Championships final, but Spain also beat England in the final, so it was a double joy for him.
Asked at the Wimbledon Champions Ball where and how he watched the final, Alcaraz admitted it was a mix of things. He started on his phone, then watched it on the TV, and finally on the iPad as he got to the Ball.
"Well, I started on the phone, switched to the TV at home, and then came here on the iPad, so it's a mix."
The match opened well for Spain, who scored midway through the first half. After that, fans didn't see any goals until the midway point of the second half, when Cole Palmer scored for England.
That wouldn't be the final score, as Spain took the lead at the end of the match, which made for some very tense final 10 minutes.
The winning goal was scored as Alcaraz arrived at the ball and he refused to leave the car until he was sure that it was truly a goal because it was being checked for a potential off-side.
"That's right just before getting out of the car, I saw the goal, I thought it was offside but I couldn't get out of the car until (I) made sure it was given a goal. Those few minutes the nerves were so high."
