Carlos Alcaraz only made his ATP debut in 2020 at 16, but he is on the verge of joining a very exclusive list.

Now 20 and with the maturity of a seasoned veteran, Alcaraz has captured two Grand Slams and four Masters 1000 titles. He was also the youngest ATP year-end No. 1, a feat he achieved in 2022 at the age of 19.

Alcaraz's meteoric rise has made him one of the most sought-after names in the tennis world, with sponsors and tournament organizers willing to break the bank just to secure his services.

For instance, last year, the Vienna tournament director revealed the Spaniard's colossal appearance just to play at the ATP 500 event. This season, Alcaraz reportedly received a nearly seven-figure pay to play at the Argentina Open.

His one-off marquee match against compatriot Rafael Nadal at the Netflix Slam will cost the event organizers at least $1 million. Although appearance fees don't count in the official prize money calculations, Alcaraz is still raking in multi-millions in compensation from ATP tournaments.

In 2022, he earned $10,102,330, second only to Novak Djokovic. Last year, Alcaraz finished behind the Serbian again in the prize money charts but banked a whopping $15,196,504 (including the share he received from the ATP's bonus pool).

Such lucrative numbers have propelled the 20-year-old to a high of 15th in the men's career prize money all-time list with a total sum of $27,477,147. Alcaraz is not far off from the Top 10 of that list as he trails 10th-placed Marin Cilic by about $4 million.

This sample makes it feasible to make projections and confidently claim that Alcaraz will break into the Top 10 before the end of 2024. Granted, it has been a tough start to the year; with an early defeat in the Golden Swing and then picking up an ankle injury, he is expected to regain his mojo in the next few weeks.
