Carlos Alcaraz is reportedly planning to set up a tennis academy in his home city of Murcia and that which will bear his name.

The 20-year-old's father, Carlos Alcaraz Gonzalez, has deep tennis roots and is the man who envisioned this project. Spanish outlet Okdiario reports that it could take years before young Alcaraz fulfills this dream, but he's got the brains, the star power, and an increasing net worth that makes this a viable venture.

Since his ATP debut at the age of 16 in 2020, Alcaraz has made an explosive climb in the tennis ranks. Now 20, Alcaraz has won two Grand Slams and four Masters 1000 titles. He is the only man born after 1990 to win multiple Slams. In 2022, he became the youngest year-end No. 1 in ATP history.

Those achievements have earned Alcaraz widespread fame and lucrative sponsorship deals with major brands, from sports and fashion companies. As a result, Alcaraz has seen his stock rise rapidly in the last 12 months. Forbes reported that he earned $31.4 million in the past year, the second-highest earner amongst active tennis players behind Novak Djokovic.

Alcaraz's longtime coach Juan Carlos Ferrero owns one of the top tennis academies in the world called the JC Ferrero - Equelite Sport Academy which boasts avant-garde facilities. Alcaraz trains there when he returns to Spain. There is no one better than the man nicknamed 'mosquito' in getting this plan into place.

The idea is that Alcaraz will work with his father and Ferrero to put the plan of creating a high-performance tennis academy that will bear his name. It will help to nurture and develop not just local and national players, but also overseas talent, akin to the Rafael Nadal Academy.

Nadal's academy was set up in 2016 in his native Mallorca and over the years, major names in the tennis world have spent their time training there due to its world-class facilities and an extravagant choice of courts.
