"A special sensation, it brings a lot of confidence" - Medvedev on beating Djokovic or Nadal

Medvedev has come out to explain just how special it is to beat either of two of the greatest players of all time.

Overcoming any member of the 'Big Three' is bound to be a special feeling for any player, but it is rare that we hear directly from someone who has done it explaining how it made them feel.

Despite never beating Roger Federer in their three matches together, Medvedev has had several run-ins against Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal, including some wins.

Having beaten Nadal once in six and Djokovic four in nine, the Russian came out to explain how each and every one of those performances and wins felt different and special to him.

"It's sometimes different sensations when you beat somebody from the big three. Well, actually 'big three', I (have) never beaten Roger. For me, when I beat Rafa one time, and I beat Novak a few times, it's a special sensation, brings you a lot of confidence. Yeah, it's just good feeling."

Unfortunately for him, he will not get the chance to add to those tallies at this year's Masters 1000 event in Montreal with neither Djokovic or Nadal in attendance this time out.

However, what with the US Open just around the corner, the Russian may be hoping he will get the chance to improve his record against either Djokovic or Nadal.

It is a 'Catch 22' scenario for anyone who dares take them on - the feeling of winning is clearly second-to-none, but the reality of how hard it is to overcome them is all too real.

If he is to maintain his current world number 1 ranking, form such as beating Djokovic and Nadal is exactly what he will be hoping to find over the course of the coming weeks and months.
