The nine ATP & WTA players featured in Netflix's recent tennis docuseries, Break Point, have seen their social media followings increase, with American player Taylor Fritz seeing the biggest rise.
A recent breakdown showing the growth of players' Twitter and Instagram followers since the program was released showed that Frtiz's overall following grew by 13%. In the series, Break Point captured Fritz's 2022 Indian Wells win over Rafael Nadal and highlighted the 25-year-old's development to become the top-ranked US player.
In addition, WTA players Paula Badosa and Maria Sakkari were focused on heavily throughout the series. Their social media accounts also benefitted with increased followings of 10.3% and 9.3%.
Some of the other players to see interest grow in their social media accounts include Nick Kyrgios, Casper Ruud, Ajla Tomljanovic and Ons Jabeur.
Other players who weren't interviewed in Break Point also saw further fan followers after the program was released, including Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis, who saw a 19.6% jump in followers on Instagram and 9.6% on Twitter.
Box to Box Films was the company that created the documentary series and it was released on Netflix in January, just before the start of the Australian Open. The company was given behind-the-scenes access to film and interview focus players during the 2022 season to document their progress and setbacks.
Only five episodes were released in the initial stage in January and more episodes are expected to come out in June 2023.
