'Netflix Sucks': Kasatkina Defends Medvedev After Break Point's Portrayal Of Him

Daria Kasatkina was left unimpressed by how the Netflix series Break Point depicted compatriot Daniil Medvedev.

The 2021 US Open champion has been in the headlines for completely different reasons, with fans left amused by Medvedev's Australian Open outfit. This was light-hearted and funny attention.

However, how the 27-year-old appeared in Break Point created headlines of a different kind, with many fans of Medvedev extremely unhappy with how their favorite player was shown in the Netflix series.

Medvedev appeared briefly in the episode about Alexander Zverev, with many fans angry that the German had an episode dedicated to him in the series. This is due to the allegations that have surrounded him.

Many felt that Medvedev was shown in an unflattering light. The series showed a montage of the Russian's more fiery moments during his career.

For instance, when the multiple-time ATP Masters 1000 champion shouted at an umpire or when he played up to the US Open crowd after being booed. Other examples include when he kicked an advertising board in sheer frustration.

Medvedev fans feel picking these isolated incidents is unfair on Medvedev, and is not a true representation of his character. Kasatkina is one of these people and stuck up for Medvedev on her X page.

"In this story, I wish kids will take a "villain" as an example of a human being. Danya is the best. Netflix sucks btw."

Kasatkina defends Medvedev from Break Point portrayal

There are a lot of people who share Kasatkina's view. To some, it feels like the series goes out of its way to give glowing portrayals of those who agree to appear in the series, even if that means other players get shown in a negative light by comparison.

The Netflix series is certainly still interesting due to the many insights it does give into the lives of tennis players. But it is also not above being criticized.
