2024 Madrid Open ATP Entry List - Djokovic, Nadal, Alcaraz & More

by Erik Virostko

The 2024 Madrid Open is the second ATP Masters 1000 tournament played on clay and the entry list was released.

With two ATP Masters 1000 tournaments prior to the seconds second major, and the only one played on clay, it's important to build momentum during the short clay-court season, and in 2024, players will get a chance to do that from April 24th to May 5th in the Spanish capital.

Over the years, like at any tournament played on clay, Rafael Nadal won the most titles in Madrid (5), and played eight finals, but over his successful tennis career, he won the event only in two consecutive years.

After last year's tournament, he's not the only player to do so, as Carlos Alcaraz proved to be better than everyone and won the 2023 Madrid Open. In 2024, he can become the first-ever player to win the tournament three years in a row, as he, but also Nadal, both appear on the entry list.

Both will present a challenge for each other, but both will be challenged also by the rest of the packed field, but especially one man, who has three trophies in Madrid to his name, the world no. 1, Novak Djokovic.

But it won't be only about these successful Grand Slam champions in the Spanish capital. Alexander Zverev won the tournament twice, Matteo Berrettini and Stefanos Tsitsipas both played a final, while Andy Murray is also a two-time champion at the event.

On top of that, Jan Lennard Struff's run last year showed that anyone can get to the final in Madrid, and the likes of Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, and Holger Rune will want to make their mark, too.

Casper Ruud is a two-time Roland Garros finalist, and he will certainly want to add a final in Madrid to his resume as well, but the same applies to the likes of Ben Shelton, Grigor Dimitrov, and Hubert Hurkacz as well. Be sure to see the full Madrid Open entry list below.
