After winning the 2020 Australian Open, Sofia Kenin struggled with injuries and she missed half of the 2021 season and hasn't played since March in 2022.
The 23-years-old American has been recovering from an injury, but it seems that she's ready to play now. In Atlanta, Sofia Kenin took on Coco Gauff in an exhibition match which ended really sadly for the Grand Slam champion.
Gauff dominated the match from start to finish and she quickly beat her opponent 6-1, 6-2 and it seemed that Kenin was not ready to play her best tennis. In the second set, Gauff played more balls in the middle of the court as she tried to get her opponent into the rhythm.
However, that didn't meet a lot of success as her opponent was making a lot of unforced errors and so the fans who came to see the exhibition match weren't really delighted when it ended with one player winning just three games.
The worst moment for the 2020 Australian Open champion came on the match point. It is very common during exhibition matches that players leave ball kids to play a rally or two. And that's something Gauff did. However, it was not really expected that Kenin will lose the point and so the frustrating match ended very sadly for the American.
