After winning a WTA title every year since 2018, Aryna Sabalenka is yet to lift a trophy in 2022 and she will try to change that at the US Open.
The 24-years-old Belarusian played 41 matches this season and won 24 of them with her best result being the final appearance in 's-Hertogenbosch. At the 2022 US Open, Aryna Sabalenka is the sixth-seeded and she will play the qualifier Catherine Harrison in the first round.
However, she will face a very difficult draw in the next rounds. Her possible second-round opponent is Kaia Kanepi, who's known for winning big matches at Grand Slam tournaments. In the third round of the 2022 US Open, Aryna Sabalenka can face the most recent Grand Slam champion, Elena Rybakina or the American legend, Venus Williams.
Next opponent could be 4-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka or the latest US Open champion, Emma Raducanu and so the Belarusian has to put in a lot of work ahead of the tournament.
And she showed that at one of the practices prior to the last Grand Slam of the season. Despite weather not being good, Aryna Sabalenka still practiced in a rain with the sound of thunder in the background.
