After rumours about the Romanian's divorce spread all over the internet, Simona Halep shared an update to her fans.
The two-time Grand Slam champion married Toni Iuruc back on the 15th of September 2021. However, shortly before their first anniversary, Simona Halep confirmed that they have decided to 'go their separate ways'.
"Toni and I decided by mutual consent to go our separate ways. I would like the press to respect our privacy and treat this subject with decency and discretion," Halep wrote on Instagram Story.
After winning the WTA 1000 event in Toronto, the Romanian withdrew from the event in Cincinnati and lost already in the first round of the 2022 US Open and so now speculations about a possible connection between her performances and personal life arise.
