Simona Halep has become the 3rd WTA player to earn over 40 million dollar in her career by winning the Toronto Masters.

Halep triumphed at the National Bank Open in Toronto for the 3rd time in her career and with the victory, she became the 3rd player with 40+ millions earned. The champion's purse in Toronto was $439,700 and it was enough to push her past the 40.000.000 milestone and solidify her as number 3 on the list. She first became the 3rd all-time earner about 3 months ago.

Her exact sum earned currently stands at $40,107,097 which is impressive for several reasons. The only two players ahead of her are Venus Williams with $42,300,728 and Serena Williams with $94,606,355. Halep doesn't play tennis to earn money but it's certainly an achievment that cements her as one of the best players in the last decade.

Her prize money milestone is even more impressive when you pit it against the ATP Tour as well. Halep is 8th on the combined ATP & WTA list with presumably a couple of years left. At the top of that list is Novak Djokovic with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer rounding out the top 4 together with Serena Williams.
