Simona Halep received plenty of support from everyone who knows her, including her father, after she tested positive for a banned substance.
Halep was stunned to learn that she tested positive for a banned substance at the 2022 US Open. The Romanian player had traces of roxadustat in her body.
Since the announcement of her positive test, plenty of people have spoken about it. Of course, Halep released a statement, saying that she started a fight to prove her innocence.
Some of the Romanian player's colleagues from the WTA Tour spoke about the situation as well, as did her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, and also her ex-husband, Toni Iuruc.
Now, also Simona's father, Stere Halep, spoke about her positive test. The Romanian tennis player's father told the Romanian publication Observator News that in his eyes, of course, his father is not guilty.
"It is a situation that is not easy to go through. But with faith and God's help, everything will be resolved. And I hope the competent bodies do justice! So, Simona is not guilty of anything at all. She took medication for her glands, but we don't know anything."
Stere Halep revealed that his daughter doesn't even have a personal doctor. He also described how she always makes sure that no forbidden substance enters her body. That applies to situations such as when she is supposed to drink from a water bottle she doesn't trust.
"Who would prescribe such a thing? Simona doesn't even have a personal doctor, she never had. If a bottle of water was opened, she didn't drink until she was given an unsealed bottle. We suspect absolutely no one because suspicion is the greatest sin. Betrayal? I don't know who it is."
"She feels betrayed by what is happening, not necessarily by anyone. We are a family that does not suspect anyone until the pure truth is known."
