Retired former world no. 1 and three-time Grand Slam champion Ash Barty will be returning to the tennis court to participate in a special event celebrating the Australian Open.
The event, called "Match in the Mall," will take place next Sunday and will feature Barty playing alongside fellow tennis stars Jim Courier, Alicia Molik, and Casey Dellacqua. The match will be held in a unique location, as a full-scale tennis court will be installed on Bourke St Mall for the occasion.
This event is being organized by Myer and Mastercard with the goal of bringing fun and footfall back to the city. With tennis fever alive and well, this event is the perfect opportunity to close off the summer of tennis in style.
Myer Chief Customer Officer Geoff Ikin told the Herald Sun:
