Emma Raducanu must find some consistency with her coaches and stop changing her approach off the court to reach the highest level, according to Patrick Mouratoglou.
Raducanu is set for her long-awaited return to tennis in 2024, as she is expected to play at the ASB Classic In Auckland in the first week of January. It will be the first competition where the former US Open champion has featured since her last appearance in April 2023 at the Stuttgart Open.
Although Raducanu has also suffered from injuries and form recently, one area where she has struggled for consistency is with finding a regular coach.
The 21-year-old has gone through eight coaches since winning the US Open, and Serena Williams' former coach, Mouratoglou, told Sky Sports that the British WTA player must make her next appointment a long-term one.
"I know that Raducanu is coming back which is great news for British tennis. She has suffered a lot both in her tennis, in her results and after that with injuries but I hope she can find some stability around her because without stability she's not going to be able to achieve her potential and that would be sad."
"Let's hope that she can stay injury free at the start of the season and that she can find someone who can help her fall in love with the game and tennis again for her future."
In addition, Mouratoglou said that Raducanu needs a "project" that she can buy into and that will support her progress. He explained that regular changes in coaching personnel will never lead to any form of success.
"Can she trust a project and to follow that project for long enough to be able to make real progress that she needs to do in order to achieve her potential?
"What hurt her so much is all those changes because you cannot change your tennis project every three months, it doesn't make sense."
