Despite playing really solid tennis at the 2023 Zhengzhou Open, Ons Jabeur withdrew from the event due to a knee problem.

Ons Jabeur has been playing really solid tennis since touching down in China a while ago. She played amazing in Ningbo reaching the final and actually winning the trophy. That was actually her first trophy won on a hard courts which is amazing considering how long she's been playing and how good she is.

She didn't have a good time at the China Open in Beijing but opted to play in Zhenzhou and was looking destined to make another final, but it won't happen. She bested Lucia Bronzetti in two sets but admitted after the match that her knee bothered her a little bit..

It didn't look that serious, but considering that the WTA Finals are around the corner, some fans got worried about that. Turns out the injury will prevent her from playing for a little at least as she admitted via. video that she's withdrawing from the event as her knee 'doesn't feel good'

I’m sorry I have to withdraw. My knee isn’t feeling so great. I’d just like to say I loved my time in Zhengzhou..

Jabeur in a video statement posted by the event social media page

It's terrible news for Jabeur, who didn't look too worried in the video smiling, which might indicate that it's only a minor problem that shouldn't really impact her participation at the WTA Finals at the end of this month.

Even so, it might prevent her from playing Monastir, which is a home event for her and one she doesn't miss. She was set to play both singles and doubles as Venus Williams came out of doubles tennis retirement to play with her at the event. Time will tell whether she shows up there and plays.
