Maria Sharapova is preparing for her wedding with long-term partner and fiance Alexander Gilkes, according to reports.
Sharapova and Gilkes have reportedly been in a relationship since early 2018 when the pair were seen together in public in Los Angeles. Later in 2018, Sharapova and Gilkes officially announced that they were in a relationship before Gilkes proposed in December 2020.
After nearly three years of engagement, the pair are ramping up their wedding preparations, as reported by People. However, the exact date or details about where the former tennis star and the fine art auctioneer will wed have not yet been announced.
During the two and half years that Sharapova and Gilkes have been engaged, they announced they were pregnant in 2021 before their first child, Theodore was born in July 2022.
Before Sharapova got engaged to Gilkes, she decided to retire from professional tennis and competing on the WTA Tour. The five-time Grand Slam winner announced her retirement from the sport in February 2020 at the age of 32 following a 17-year career at the top of the game.
Since her retirement, the Russian former player has had a busy personal life, including building a future with Gilkes. After his proposal in 2020, Gilkes took to his personal Instagram page to share the news and to express his love for Sharapova.

While away from the sport, Sharapova often shares her opinions about current game, and her opinions are respected, as the Russian used to be one of the best players in the sport before her retirement. With so many comebacks of mothers recently, who knows if Sharapova isn't another one that may return to the sport.
