Iga Swiatek is up to four Grand Slams in her career already and she's on track for McEnroe's prediction of 10+ grand slams.
The Polish player won the 2023 Roland Garros, though, this was in many ways the hardest. She faced a really strong player in the final coming very close to losing the match but ultimately proved a proper champion and winning.
The win was a big one for the Polish superstar as her participation was in doubt following an injury at the Italian Open. There was also some doubt for her both before and during the event which made this triumph the toughest Grand Slam she's ever won.
Her former coach, Piotr Sierzputowski, doesn't think this is the last one and he thinks she'll finish with more than Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina, as he revealed talking to Polish outlet Sport.
The heart says that Iga will be the best, but the mind says that it is not known. For now, Iga has the best start, she has four titles, and they have one each. In addition, Iga is younger - Sabalenka is born in 1998, Rybakina in 1999, and Iga in 2001"
It's a pretty good assumption, one that others have made. During last year's US Open coverage, both Mats Wilander and John McEnroe predicted Swiatek to win somewhere in the range of 10 grand slams if she can keep up this level.
She's nearly there already with pretty big ambitions for the future. To achieve all of that she'll have to improve on grass particularly as she's yet to figure out how to win on it. Her former coach doesn't doubt her and he's pretty certain that she'll end up as the winningest amongst the current dominant trio on the WTA Tour (Sabalenka, Swiatek, Rybakina).
