Iga Swiatek will join fellow WTA player Emma Raducanu as a Porsche ambassador after her latest move.
On the WTA Tour, players have a chance to compete for a car from the famous German car brand. At the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, the winner gets a brand new car, and the young Pole has already managed to do that already twice in her career.
The last time Swiatek won the Porsche was in 2023, and she almost didn't get it, as her final opponent, Aryna Sabalenka hilariously pretended to smash the car with the runner-up trophy.
But after her recent triumph in Stuttgart where she already managed to win her second Porsche, the World No. 1 admitted that she often gets asked about why she's not yet part of the Porsche team.
However, she won't be getting that question anymore, as the Polish player became a Porsche ambassador only weeks after her recent Porsche Tennis Grand Prix win.
"After I got my second trophy in Stuttgart many of you wrote that it is a good moment to start a collab with Porsche and it seems very natural to me. So… guess what. I’m joining Team Porsche! And it doesn’t mean I won’t be fighting for another Porsche car in Stuttgart next year."
Swiatek joked that even though she is part of the team now and collaborates with the brand, she will still compete for another car at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix next year unless something changes over the next 12 months.
This is not the first time Porsche has sponsored a tennis player. The company has a tradition of backing tennis players, with Emma Raducanu already one of the ambassadors.
Raducanu was often seen driving her Porsche and she has also experienced quite a few events, having a chance to drive the car on the track or be driven by a professional driver that let her experience the real speed.
