Seven-time Grand Slam champion Mats Wilander has lavished praise on Iga Swiatek and predicted the WTA world No. 1's future prospects.

Swiatek entered the 2022 season having already won a Grand Slam at the 2020 French Open. However, no one predicted that the Pole would dominate in the manner she has throughout the year.

After losing to Danielle Collins and Jelena Ostapenko at the Australian Open and Dubai Championships, Swiatek went on an extraordinary 37-match winning streak that Alize Cornet finally broke in the third round of Wimbledon.

The Pole won her first hard court Grand Slam at the recent US Open, beating Ons Jabeur in the final. During the post-match press conference, Swiatek was surprised with tiramisu, her favorite dessert.

Wilander thinks Swiatek's winning a second Grand Slam this year after securing the French Open in June is a sign of her ability. He also referenced her 37 matches unbeaten during comments on the Kick Serve Podcast.

"I think that Iga Swiatek with 37 wins in a row on two different continents, on two different surfaces, I think, yeah, I think you got to hand it to her, especially as she won now two (Grand Slams)"

The Swedish tennis legend is confident enough in Swiatek's ability to make a prediction about her future. He believes the three-time Grand Slam winner will still be at No. 1 at the end of 2023 and expects her to have also added two more major titles by then.

"I think that Iga – I’m going to be (the one to) make the first prediction – I think that Iga Swiatek will easily stay the number one in the world at the end of next year. I think she’ll pick up another two Slams, and I don’t see any woman even close to her."
