Caroline Garcia had a surprise rise in 2022 but she intends on keeping that going as she aims to win a grand slam.
Garcia has Grand Slam trophies in her cabinet but they are doubles trophies. After capping the year off well and winning the WTA Finals, she wants to win a singles one and believes she is capable of doing so. Her talent was never in question but the consistency needs to stay for her to do that.
“I am at the top of my abilities,” said Garcia to Eurosport recently. “With the semi-final at the US Open and this title at the Masters, the dream of winning a Grand Slam becomes more palpable, more concrete, even if the road is still long."
“I still have seven matches to win to get a Grand Slam. I don’t have
anything less than before the Masters. I think all this gives me
confidence that it’s achievable. It shows that I’m capable of winning a
Grand Slam. It’s going to be a ‘challenging’ two weeks in a lot of
areas, but I have the style and level of play," added Garcia.
Garcia will have a decent chance at the Australian Open as her style of play is rewarded down under. The competition will be fierce but she doesn't mind. After all, she handed Swiatek one of her nine losses in 2022.
