Caroline Garcia spoiled the party for Iga Swiatek and her fans by beating her 6-1 1-6 6-3 in the Warsaw quarterfinal.

Caroline Garcia is a very tricky player to play against because she's capable of producing some truly spectacular tennis at times. That is what happened in the opening set of her match with Iga Swiatek as she jumped out to an early 4-0 lead. She had a double-break lead because Swiatek was all over the place. Iga managed to pull one break back but she still lost the opening set 1-6.

She was simply playing poorly missing a lot and playing the crucial points very bad. It changed in the 2nd set as she was much better. It started with a better serve and snowballed from there. It was Garcia who was missing this time around and Iga quickly finished off the 2nd set with 6-1.

The final set was a proper battle between the players who both settled into a nice rhythm. Swiatek was playing well and Garcia was not backing down either. Garcia was actually a bit better but failed to utilize her early chances.

She didn't get discouraged as she kept applying heavy pressure on Swiatek and the Polish player caved under it late in the match. At 3-4, Swiatek allowed Garcia a break point and she used it to take a 5-3 lead. Swiatek actually broke back for the 5-4 score but failed to win her service game crashing out 4-6 in the final set.
