Coco Gauff should have the easiest path to the title at the 2023 US Open, according to the AI Draw Analysis made by the tournament.
Artificial intelligence is getting more and more utilized in the world of tennis, and after this year's Wimbledon, the US Open followed and introduced some interesting AI-powered features that fans would be able to use during the event's duration from August 28th to September 10th.
While AI commentary is one of those features, the draw analysis is another one. Fans had a chance to observe that already at Wimbledon, where Iga Swiatek, according to the AI, received the easiest draw out of all players.
Now, the situation is a little bit different. Through their sponsor, IBM, the US Open is providing the IBM AI Draw Analysis that shows which players received the 'most favourable draw.' Naturally, the highest-ranked players are also leading the ranking of the most favourable draws, since they can't face each other early on, giving them an advantage over unseeded opponents.
Since Coco Gauff has been playing probably the best tennis of her life recently, it's not a surprise that she's also considered to be one of the favourites for the 2023 US Open, and that's also probably one of the reasons why her draw is considered 'the most favourable,' as the 19-year-old can't face herself.
In the first round of the competition, the young American will play against one of the qualifiers, but already in the second round, she can meet 16-year-old prodigy Mirra Andreeva, and the third-round clash could see her play former Australian Open finalist, Danielle Collins.
Behind the 19-year-old is Ons Jabeur, who, according to the AI Draw Analysis, received the second easiest draw. The Tunisian is coming off a painful Wimbledon loss, so a favourable draw is something she may need. In the first round, the fifth seed will play against Camila Osorio from Columbia.
Third on the list is no other than the world no. 1, Iga Swiatek. The top seed will start her tournament against Rebecca Peterson from Sweden, and there are seemingly no dangerous players in her part of the draw, suggesting that the Pole could have been recipient of the 'most favourable draw.'
The fourth most favourable draw goes to another home player, Jessica Pegula. The third-seeded American will begin against former world no. 26, Camila Giorgi, but her second-round match should see her play against either Patricia Maria Tig or Rebecca Marino.
The fourth-seeded Elena Rybakina is also on the list, having received the fifth most favourable draw. The Kazakstani player will play against Marta Kostyuk in the first round, and her second-round match could see her clash with Ajla Tomljanovic.
Surprisingly, the second seed, and one of the biggest favourites, Aryna Sabalenka, is not on the list. The Belarusian will face Maryna Zanveska in the first round, but a possible third-round match with former world no. 1, Karolina Pliskova, is probably something that makes her draw difficult.
