Gauff Admits She Wants To Win Her First Doubles Major To 'Close That Chapter' Of Her Career

Coco Gauff is highly motivated to win the Roland Garros doubles trophy, wanting to win a Grand Slam on that side of the sport.

The American has played doubles consistently since becoming a professional tennis player on the WTA Tour, but she seems to have decided that she won't be playing doubles in the future.

She's mostly focused on singles, which means doubles will be pushed aside in favor of that. She hinted at it in the past and nothing seemingly changed even after she reached another major final in doubles.

Even so, the 20-year-old has a few goals in the doubles before she stops focusing too much on that side of the sport. One is obviously the upcoming Olympics, where she'll play with long-time partner Jessica Pegula.

Another one is to win a Grand Slam trophy, which has eluded her so far. She's in the final in Paris with Katerina Siniakova, and she is highly motivated to win it, with a decent shot at doing so, as they've been pretty amazing so far.

"I have doubles and I have a great partner and I feel like we have a good shot to win. I really want to win a doubles slam just to, I don't wanna say close that chapter but once I do it I don't feel like I'll chase more. Not saying I won't play doubles so I'll focus on that."

She and Siniakova have played well so far and will have a decent shot at winning the trophy. Their opponents will be Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani, who have proven themselves quite tricky to beat in recent weeks.

Gauff faced them together with Erin Routliffe in Rome and wasn't able to beat the Italians, though she was close. Now she'll have a chance to avenge that loss, and what a way it would be - winning a maiden Grand Slam doubles trophy.
