Coco Gauff revealed where she stands on the popular beef between rappers Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
There is a high-profile feud between rappers Kendrick Lamar and Drake. Feuds like this one are not that uncommon, but high-profile ones between two artists known worldwide are not so common, and that's why they caught the attention of even athletes.
Gauff, who is currently competing at the 2024 Italian Open in Rome, where she already made it to the semi-final after beating Qinwen Zheng, is familiar with both artists.
Therefore, it wasn't surprising when she was asked during one of her talks to media at the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome asked her where she stands on the feud, and she gave her thoughts on that.
Gauff, like many others, took the side of Kendrick Lamar, but the 20-year-old player had a specific reason for that, which is closely related to tennis, and legend of the sport - Serena Williams.
"I knew you were going to ask me this because you asked Naomi (smiling). To be honest, yeah, I like Kendrick's songs more. Yeah, I think pretty much everybody I know is leaning towards him. I do like Drake as an artist, as well."
Gauff came out as a supporter of Kendrick Lamar in this current beef as well as a loyalist to Serena Williams. The American has been quite outspoken about her respect for the legend that paved the way for her and many others, and Serena's influence can be palpable also when deciding about rap beefs.
"But, yeah, as far as like the rap battle that's going on, the rap beef, I think definitely Kendrick is winning. Also Drake, like, dissed Serena so I have to go with Kendrick. Kendrick defended her. So, yeah, I have to go with him."
