French Open tournament director Amelie Mauresmo recently caused uproar with her comments about the appeal of men's and women's tennis, and Iga Swiatek was not a fan of them.

Mauresmo, who won two Grand Slams during her career, has faced questions about why more women's matches have not been scheduled during the night session. Her response led to widespread media attention.

The Frenchwoman claimed that men's tennis currently has more appeal than the women's game. Mauresmo also said she tried to find women's first-round matches to put in the night session, but could not find a suitable one.

While some fans have lauded Mauresmo for her honesty, many were left angered, feeling it was disrespectful to the female players. Others also felt that her comments were not accurate, arguing that there were many matches that could have been picked for the night session.

The world No. 1 Swiatek was recently asked to give her thoughts on Mauresmo's remarks. While the Pole admitted that she prefers playing during the day, she was still unhappy with what the 42-year-old said.

“It is a little bit disappointing and surprising because she was also on the WTA. From my point of view, for every player it is more convenient to play at normal hours, but I want to entertain and I also want to show my best tennis in every match. For me, I have always felt the same way when I go out, whether it is day session or night session. It is still disappointing."

Swiatek also said that the women's game has many advantages, including its unpredictability, which can be appealing to many fans.

"I think women’s tennis has a lot of advantages. Some may say [that] it’s unpredictable and girls are not consistent. But on the other hand, it may also be something that may really attract more people.”
