Coco Gauff vs Ons Jabeur: 2024 Roland Garros - Preview & Prediction

by Zachary Wimer

Coco Gauff will take on Ons Jabeur for a spot in the 2024 Roland Garros semi-final, which would be a first for her opponent.

This is a proper semi-final delight in the French capital because two very good tennis players who have a lot to offer will clash, very likely on the Court Phlippe-Chatrier.

On the one side, there is Jabeur, who is a wonderful watch with all her variety and ability to hit some incredible shots. She's going to have plenty of fans backing her and plays really well on clay, generally.

On the other side, there is Gauff, who has looked quite impressive so far in Paris and is generally a very tough matchup on clay. She's quick, capable of defending well, and is generally quite hard to beat, no matter the opponent's style.

Head-to-head:

Gauff and Jabeur have played six times in WTA Tour-level matches so far, and the American leads their H2H 4-2. They played three matches on clay, two of which were won by Gauff and one by the Tunisian. One of those even happened in Paris in 2021, and Gauff won it easily.

Their most recent match was at the WTA Finals, which Gauff won easily 6-1 6-0. She's generally had a good time against Jabeur on all surfaces, which certainly bodes well for her for this upcoming matchup.

3 Rank 9
20 Age 29
29-8 2024 W/L 10-9
204-90 Career W/L 439-241

Prediction:

Gauff has looked better this year on clay and generally has looked better in Paris this week. She's also had some success against Jabeur in the past, which is why she's the favorite in this meeting. Winning won't be easy, but she will win if she produces her usual level.

Prediction: Coco Gauff to win in three sets.
