Coco Gauff has revealed that, despite her progress in WTA tennis, imposter syndrome still creeps in at times.

Currently ranked number six in the world, Gauff has risen to the top of women's tennis at the age of just 19. The American teenager has continued to impress after she reached the French Open final in 2022 season and she has already gone on strong runs to the Dubai Open Championship semi-final and Indian Wells quarter-final so far in 2023.

Even though Gauff has made huge strides in professional tennis since making her debut in 2018, she revealed that she still struggles with confidence on the court. However, it is a struggle that Gauff has had since her junior days.

"I feel like when I step on the court the confidence is high, but I think throughout my life, even as a junior going into tournaments, I would get a lot of anxiety about where I was playing-wise, and then when I stepped on the court, I definitely feel like I can win the match."

Gauff told the WTA official site

Gauff also said that she is working on her anxiety to try and reflect on where her game is currently. In addition, the American player feels that she has earned the right to compete at the top level and her achievements are fairly reflected by her WTA ranking.

"I think it's just fighting those thoughts and understanding that I belong here. You know, imposter syndrome is a thing, so sometimes I get that, but it's something that I'm working on to realize I'm here for a reason and my ranking is here for a reason and I definitely deserve that."
