Coco Gauff brought to light the ongoing trash talk that is taking place between several of the American tennis players throughout this US Open thus far.
This particular US Open has seen many of the American tennis players doing very well. Coco Gauff is leading the way on the women's side by making the quarter-finals, but there are also another three American women who could book their place into the last eight, too. Madison Keys was one of them, after she defeated fellow compatriot Jessica Pegula.
American tennis in the men's game is experiencing a bit of a much-needed revival, as Frances Tiafoe is close to making it back-to-back semi-finals at this tournament, while Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz are also still in the tournament.
Gauff talked through the ongoing lighthearted trash talk that is taking place with the American players, revealing some behind-the-scenes to the tennis fans.
"After my match, Ben and Frances were in the cooldown area, and it was really cool to see us all there. Obviously the conversation they have already started the trash talk. I'm indifferent who wins, but I did say that Frances is a little bit upset because I said Ben had the better outfit than him."
As much as the fighting talk continues between the best crop of American tennis players in this particular generation, there will still be a lot of support and friendliness behind the scenes as all the American players really like seeing their friends do well. Gauff backed this up and stated this in the recent press conference.
"It's really great. I was so happy. Obviously I know Tommy Paul really well, too. But I was really happy for Ben's win. Especially they played each other in Australia, so it is nice to just see the competitiveness between the countrymen and us all doing well."
