Switzerland and Australia will meet in the final of the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Glasgow, Scotland after winning their semifinal ties on Saturday.
In the first semifinal tie, Australia and United Kingdom fought hard for the final spot. Singles matches ended without a clear winner as Storm Sanders defeated Heather Watson, and Harriet Dart levelled the score by stunning Ajla Tomljanovic. In doubles, Storm Sanders teamed up with veteran Samantha Stosur to beat Alicia Barnett and Olivia Nicholls and secure spot in the final for Australia.
The second semifinal tie was much more one-sided as there was no need for doubles match. First, Viktorija Golubic stunned Karolina Muchova to put Switzerland only one win away from reaching the final.
Then, Belinda Bencic showed her qualities against Karolina Pliskova by beating her 6-2, 7-6(6) and after two singles matches, Switzerland secured their final spot against Australia in a tie that will be played on Sunday.
