Badosa Hits Out At Publication After Comments About Top 100 Exit

by Zachary Wimer

Paula Badosa was mentioned by a Spanish publication regarding her possible Top 100 exit, and she wasn't happy about that.

It's been a pretty tough 2024 for Badosa so far, and unfortunately, it's not something new. She's had a pretty tough 2023, dealing with a lot of injuries and missing a lot of time due to injuries.

She spoke about it often, admitting how tough it was not to be able to compete because that's all she wants to do. This year is better because she's actually on the courts and competing, but she's yet to put together a good string of results.

It's no wonder; it's not easy to get back into the rhythm after missing as much time as she did last year. A Spanish publication, El Desmargue, called out Badosa after her most recent loss in Charleston, pointing out that she's on her way out of the Top 100 if she doesn't start winning.

She didn't really appreciate that comment and clapped back at them on X (formerly Twitter) by pointing out that she hadn't competed for ten months. Still being in the Top 100 with that is actually pretty good.

She also called them out for not using a photo of her with the news, which they seemingly changed later on, as there's a picture of Badosa alongside the article right now.

"It seems too much to me to still be in the top 100 without competing for 10 months. And finally, please put a photo of me on the cover… Regrettable"

Badosa's reaction on X

The Spaniard is close to leaving the Top 100, but she's also right that being ranked inside without competing for almost a year is certainly a really good result. Either way, she will hope to remain healthy and start winning again.
