Badosa Declares Injury A Thing Of The Past, Eyes Grand Slam Prize

Paula Badosa dealt with many injuries in 2023 but ahead of 2024, the Spaniard is officially injury-free which is great news.

The 26-year-old had a really good start to the last year but then experienced injury problems, which derailed the entire season. The way she played at the start of the year was super exciting because it seemed like she was on her way back into the Top 10, but then disaster struck.

It was a long journey to get back, but she never gave up, and now, ahead of 2024, she finally looks ready to play consistently again. Some outings at the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi were certainly promising but now it's the real deal.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Adelaide International, Badosa officially declared herself injury-free with a clear goal. She's targeting the Grand Slam trophy.

Yeah, I'm injury free. I want to get back to that level as soon as possible. I know it's going to be tough at the beginning. It's been a lot of months that I didn't play. Also I always wanted to win a Slam. It's one of my dreams, and it will always be until the day I retire.

As she stated in her response, Badosa knows it will take some time to find her best tennis again, but she's motivated, which is half the job. The more she plays, the more she'll be comfortable out there again, and by the time the clay season rolls around, Badosa should be in a great spot to challenge for some events.

Having the Olympics on clay in Paris this year is added motivation, but she's a pretty good performer on all surfaces, so that won't matter much. Let's see what happens this week and in Melbourne. That's going to be the real test.
